Mapping

Assignments of products to internal categories can be made as follows:

  1. during the import of product data
  2. under Data Pool -> Products -> Tab "Category" via the category selection, or
  3. direkt über die Schaltfläche [ Kategorien übernehmen/abgleichen ]
Attention!
We generally recommend assigning all products to internal categories. This works best during the import of product data.

Are there no categories included in an import file, our system assigns category IDs of its own. The assignment of data to the categories of your CSV or XML interface (to match the categories of your shop) takes place later, via the internal categories, in the "Interface Export Settings" section.

Lists

After setting up the internal categories will the number of products which are stored in each category be displayed here. In addition, you can see whether you have already made assignments to marketplace categories on eBay or Amazon. By clicking on the appropriate country code, new assignements and item specifics can be set up or already existing ones edited.

To edit an internal category, click on the category name. A new page opens, on which properties and assignments of the category (e.g. forAmazon and eBay) can be edited.

In order to transfer item attributes of a particular category in bulk to other categories, you must first register the category assignments of these categories for each marketplace. Should internal categories have no marketplace assignments; no items attributes can be transferd to them. Existing marketplace assignments are identified by the country code in the Internal Categories listing (i.e. US, UK, DE).

  • "eBay Categories"
Assign an appropriate eBay category to the internal category and get the associated item specifics directly from eBay.

These category IDs can be found on eBay, on the eBay Categories overview page for each marketplace.

Select the country and enter the corresponding ID in the field "eBay category" (if known).
Alternatively, the search function can be used. Click on the magnifying glass. Select a main category and click the plus sign to see possible subcategories. If the [Apply ID] button is displayed to the right, select the most appropriate category by clicking the button next to it. The corresponding ID is then transferred into the field "eBay category".
Proceed in the same way if you want to assign products to a second category.

If you change the eBay category, then you must also update the item specifics, as they may have different values.

  • "eBay Store Category"
If you have your own shop on eBay, you can enter the ID of your "'Shop'" category here. This is the preferred method! A category must always be created in the eBay shop first, so that the corresponding ID can be generated by eBay. Names in general could also be used, but errors may occur during input. Example: "Chains / Bracelets" is not the same on eBay as "Chains / Bracelets".
The "2. eBay Store Category can be another independent category of your eBay store, where an item could be listed. Proceed in the same way if you want to assign products to a second "Shop" category. Example: An earring can be "created/saved" in category1 (women) and it then can also be displayed in category2 (girls).
Attention!
Each value entered must always point to the last (leaf) category level, where your products are classified on eBay. Main and secondary categories are not related to parent/child relations!
